Subject Specific Student Tutoring
Fostering Relationships and Building Trust Through Tutoring
Our subject specific tutors are matched with students based on:
- Learning challenges
All of our tutors are highly trained experts on the subject matter they tutor. However, at Academic Coaching Associates, we go a step further. Not only are our tutors matched with students based on a particular subject, but on compatibility as well. We know that fostering relationships and building trust with our students is key to student success, and they are experts at doing it.
Although it is common to use the term “tutor” for one-on-one subject specific instruction, “tutoring” does not truly capture the broad range of skills addressed during tutoring sessions. Our unique holistic approach is used with every one of the services offered by Academic Coaching Associates.
Our professional tutors pinpoint the underlying reasons keeping the student from achieving in a specific subject. Perhaps there are gaps in foundation skills, ineffective study skills, processing or working memory deficits, executive function weaknesses, inability to sustain attention in class; whatever the issue, our tutors target the area where the breakdown occurs and then concentrate on strengthening those skills using strategies customized to the individual needs of the student.
Tutoring subjects include (but are not limited to):
- Algebra I and II
- Writing and Editing
- Reading Comprehension
- Political Science
- SAT prep
- ACT prep
- SSAT prep
- College application essay writing
